Privacy Policy
Lumo Post does not collect your personal data. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We do not operate any server that stores, processes or receives what you read.
1. Information we collect
None. The application does not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other identifying information, and it does not create an account for you.
2. Information stored on your device
Your subscriptions, downloaded articles, read and hidden items, favourites, podcast playback positions and application settings are stored locally on your device. Removing the application removes this data.
3. iCloud synchronisation
So that your subscriptions and reading state match across your iPhone, iPad and Mac, the application stores a copy of them in the private database of your own iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit service. This data belongs to your Apple Account. The developer has no access to it and cannot read it. Signing out of iCloud, or disabling iCloud for this application in system settings, stops the synchronisation.
4. Connections to other services
The application fetches content directly from the internet, from your device, without any intermediary server of ours. Depending on what you subscribe to, your device may connect to: the websites and feeds of the publications you have chosen; public Telegram channel pages; YouTube channel feeds and the YouTube player; the public interfaces of Bluesky and Mastodon; podcast feeds and audio files hosted by their publishers; and Apple's public podcast search service.
As with any web browser, these services can see your IP address and standard network request information. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies, not by ours. We receive none of it.
5. On-device processing
Sorting articles into topic folders and selecting the daily digest are performed entirely on your device by a language model embedded in the application. Article text is not sent anywhere for this purpose. Translation and read-aloud use the corresponding features built into Apple's operating systems and also run on your device.
6. Purchases
Any purchases or subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details. Apple provides us only with anonymous aggregated sales reports.
7. Diagnostics
The application contains no crash reporting or analytics software of its own. If you have chosen in your device settings to share diagnostics with developers, Apple may provide us with anonymised crash reports through App Store Connect. These reports are produced and delivered by Apple and are not linked to your identity.
8. Children
Lumo Post is a general news reader and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
